Our decades of expertise has now been leveraged in the field of electrode production equipment by initially applying it to building lines used for the wet coating processes.
Our Multi-Roll Calenders are perfectly designed to produce dry battery electrodes as they allow for powder processing and lamination in only one production step. Multi-roll calendering compresses and densifies the electrode structure to achieve optimal thickness, uniformity, and mechanical stability. A mixture of active material in the form of powder and a polymeric binder form the basis material to be fed into the calender gap. Between the rollers rotating in opposite directions with differential circumferential speed, a fine freestanding film is formed. In the integrated lamination process, the film is directly transferred to the current collector foil with maximum accuracy by the multi-roll calender.
By replacing liquid-based slurry processes with a streamlined, solvent-free approach, our DBE technology eliminates the need for energy-intensive drying steps as well as for costly solvent recovery systems. This leads to significant impacts on cost-structure, production efficiency and sustainability aspects.
Our systems for manufacturing dry battery electrodes mark a significant departure from traditional electrode production processes – offering a more efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable method for producing high-performance batteries.
